I'm Jonas Johansson , an anywhere-based artist, educator, and designer from Glommen, Halland. My work explores light and technology through play, community, and (un)human intervention.
As an artist and designer, my approach is ludic and exploratory, often hybrid and interdisciplinary, moving between art, technology, and collective experimentation. I enjoy site-specific research and placemaking, integrating with new environments and cultures, and merging with the surroundings.
Since 2024 I have been designing courses for Svenska Tecknare. Before that, I taught Visual Communication at Beckmans for eight years (2017–2025), served as Industry Leader at Hyper Island (2014–2022), and lectured at Aalto University, Konstfack, Berghs, Nyckelviken, and Futuregames, to name a few. Alongside teaching, I hosted the first Processing Community Day in Stockholm and founded Exploring Technology (with my then collaborator Mickey van Olst), an open-source repository of tools, methods, and resources from workshops and courses.
My professional practice includes KRAM/WEISSHAAR (SE/DE), FIELD (UK) and Moment Factory (CA). Earlier, I interned at W+K Tokyo (JP) and UltraSuperNew (JP). I have also served as an Assessor for Kulturbryggan under the Swedish Arts Grants Committee.
Today I run the artist residency Visualia, collaborate with the lighting collective Svartljus, and the co-founded Nordic Audiovisual Artists. I share a studio space in Stockholm with SMASH, IVAR, and Rose Hallgren.
